Even during the summer, the weather in Italy can vary from region to region. Tuscany can experience cooler air temperatures than the rest of the country. Sailors tend to come cruising in the Tyrrhenian Sea during the beginning of Spring or the end of Autumn, because is significantly less crowded and it doesn't get so hot. If you do decide to sail in April or October, you will need some additional warmer clothes, because temperatures at sea are known to drop below 14 degrees, with the wind being predominantly stable. The summer in Tuscany is known to bring with itself temperatures well above 30 degrees Celsius. If you decide to come in August, it would be wise to prepare for the eventuality of many Italians going away on holiday. During this time of Feragosto, many facilities close down, but some hotels and marinas lower their prices.
